Ground Source Heat Pumps
Lincolnshire’s leading Ground Source Heat Pump Installation Expert!
At Greenlinc Renewables, we provide professional Ground Source Heat Pump installations throughout Lincoln and Lincolnshire.
Using the natural, consistent warmth stored in the ground, these systems deliver a reliable, renewable source of heating and hot water all year round.
As one of the county’s MCS-certified and TrustMark-accredited installers, we’re trusted by homeowners across Lincolnshire to design and install heating systems that are built to last.
How do Ground Source Heat Pumps Work?
Ground Source Heat Pumps use a series of buried pipes – either laid in trenches or drilled vertically into the ground – to absorb heat from beneath the surface.
Unlike air, which fluctuates with the weather, ground temperatures remain stable year-round, making these systems incredibly efficient even in the coldest months.
The captured heat is transferred into your property, providing warmth through radiators, underfloor heating, and supplying your hot water.

What our clients say!
Carol PooleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you Dan,Kane and Kai for doing a great job installing our new heating system. They came in Monday and never stopped, working late night to get it all done by Friday. They cleaned up every day and their work was so neat when finished I can't praise them enough. Everything explained, contact numbers if I needed them. So we'll done all, it was a pleasure to have them here. Thank you again. Stevan AyrisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. First class, professional service from Dan at Greenlinc Renewables. He answered my initial call promptly and gave me clear and concise details of when he could call to look at the problem. Dan arrived on time and quickly set about diagnosing the problem. He offered me various solutions in plain English, in a manner that I could understand. Problem now solved. After sales service was first class. Dan kept in touch with me for a day or so to ensure that everything was working as it should. I will have no hesitation in using Greenlinc again if I have further problems. 5 star service. Very well done, Dan. I am a very satisfied customer. Since writing this review I have used Greenlinc to resolve a further problem with my hot water system. The office staff (Laura) were absolutely first class. She understood my concerns and arranged for a member of the team to visit at very short notice. Brendan was brilliant. He listened to my concerns and issues. He explained what was happening and then set about solving my hot water problems. First class service all round. Very professional and a credit to their trade. Very well done everyone concerned. Peter HarrisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dan has been great at working with me to resolve the ongoing issues I have had with my 8-year-old Mitsubishi ASHP . At first Dan arranged a What’s App conference call so that I could talk through the issues and show him the problems online. This was followed up by 2 site visits. Dan then put together options and prices for me to think about. I decided to let Dan and his team put in a new cylinder and re-engineer the pipe work and circulation pumps. He also replaced the incorrect pipe work that was being used to my main bathrooms. The work was completed within 2 days and is currently working far better than it has before . I have been asked to monitor the system and keep Dan informed on its performance. I cannot thank him and the team enough. Mark DowneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you so much Craig and team for installing my complete heating system Inc the ASHP last year. Was a big job starting from scratch, part of an eco4 installation. Craig and his team didn't stop while they were here, sometimes later in the evenings to get the job done in the tight time scale they had not being local. Also to mention very tidy,no mess and neat work. Everything working as it should 👍 Thanks again, truly highly recommended. Mark Wilmington Honiton Mark EdgarTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had good advice on our solar/battery installation - and we made many changes. The team involved were great all the way through from design to installation and commissioning. The workmanship was neat, tidy and speedy and the system was up and running on the second day. A small hiccough was sorted the same day that I reported it. Everyone involved was pleasant, helpful and keen to do a good job. Now I have had all the necessary paperwork to apply for the SEG payment so its all systems go! Happy to recommend Greenlinc to anyone. sara mcdonaldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Greenlinc team have done an excellent job in providing us with an air source heat pump installation. Craig instilled confidence from our first meeting. He assessed our needs and provided us with clear and well informed advice. The team, who comprised of Carl, Josh, Will, Dan Jake and Jack were very conscientious and knowledgeable. The installation process went well due to the experience and expertise of the team. There was minimum disruption to the household while work was carried out and the team were very easy company from start to finish. Thank you to all, including Jade and Caitlin for sorting out the paper work. It’s a great feeling to be rid of the old oil burner. We are very happy with pump and would highly recommend Greenlinc to others. Elouise LavingtonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Karl and the team have provided excellent service. Richard WardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Apologies to Greenlinc that this is a slightly later review than originally planned. I don't normally leave reviews generally, however, I felt personally obligated to leave a review for Greenlinc Plumbing & Renewables to really showcase how excellent this company is. If you are within their catchment area I strongly encourage you to utilise them for your servicing and maintenance requirements, you will not be disappointed. It's a long one, but equally I really think it is worth a read! So on Monday 13th January, we (myself, wife, 8 year old and 1 year old) woke up to find that we had no central heating or hot water. We have an AirSource Heat Pump installed and it had sadly thrown up a flow rate error (Samsung E911) which had unfortunately stopped the system working. I contacted Greenlinc in the morning and advised of my situation, and the fact that we had a young child and baby and after attempting various measures over telephone and email instructions (which I would like to say is another plus of this company, the free advice given to try and resolve rather than instantly sending someone out at cost) to no avail I was advised someone would be with me during the afternoon THAT SAME DAY, fantastic! 13/01/2024 - Carl and Dan/Josh(Apologies couldn't remember which way round they came) arrived at the property, having just completed what sounded like a nightmare of a job. Nevertheless, they both were extremely polite and professional and got straight to work at attempting to diagnose the issue. We believed the issue had been identified and at the time the hot water was heating so they left. 14/01/2024 - Unfortunately, as can often happen the error came back during the early hour of the morning, meaning again no hot water or heating in the morning. I contacted Greenlinc again to advise of the situation and they informed me someone would be with me that day. Carl arrived with a different member of the team, Dan/Josh(Apologies couldn't remember which way round they came) and once again cracked straight on with trying to identify the issue. The pair worked tirelessly for hours trying to sort but unfortunately this was a mystery and with fading daylight the decision was taken to reconvene the next morning. 15/01/2024 - Carl and Paul arrived nice and early to finally get this error resolved. They both worked like champs throughout the day, changing parts, adding new pipework and completely flushing the system and filters until finally we arrived at a fully functioning system. Much of the headaches with trying to fix this issue were attributed to how the system had been installed poorly (by a different company). Simple things like the non-existence of shut of valves around filters and water inlets made the whole experience that more challenging and time-consuming due to having to drain the entire system in order to work on specific areas. I am pleased to say that Greenlinc have now installed additional hardware to future-proof this from being an issue again. All in all, thoroughly impressed. Keep the guys topped up with hot drinks, they really do deserve it. Please pass on this review to the 4 guys mentioned and ensure it is shared with the Directors how satisfied I was with the politeness and professionalism of all that I came into contact with during this timeframe. Mr Ward Billinghay Nina SharpeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What can I say they are fab!,..we have had nothing but issues with our heat pump since having it due to some other unreliable contractors and these guys are fantastic, they do what they say they will and have finally got our heat pump working efficiently as it should be due to poor fitting originally Thankyou so much especially to Craig and Jade Rebecca HolleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just had Thia company install an air source heat pump for my Mum and I was so impressed with how professional, meticulous and knowledgeable the team was. They installed everything, left the house clean and tidy and explained how everything worked in easy steps. I would recommend this company to everyone. Thank you again Becky Pickles and Valerie Holley
Ground Source Heat Pump FAQ’s
Some of our most commonly asked questions regarding ground source heat pumps can be found below. If you can’t find what you’re looking for please feel to contact our friendly customer support team.
What is a ground source heat pump?
A Ground Source Heat Pump is a renewable heating system that extracts natural heat stored in the ground and uses it to warm your home and hot water. It works by circulating a water and antifreeze mix through underground pipes, absorbing stable low level heat, and upgrading it to a usable temperature through a highly efficient compressor. The Ground stays at a steady temperature throughout the year which means a Ground Source Heat Pump delivers reliable, low cost, low carbon heating for homes across the FproteUK.
Will having a ground source heat pump installed reduce my carbon footprint?
Yes. A Ground Source Heat Pump can significantly reduce your carbon footprint because it uses stable underground heat rather than burning fossil fuels. When powered by renewable electricity, the system runs with very low emissions and offers one of the most environmentally friendly heating solutions available in the UK.
Can a ground source heat pump provide all of my heat and hot water?
A properly sized GSHP can supply all of your home’s heating and hot water throughout the year. The system delivers consistent, reliable heat because ground temperatures remain stable even in winter. During your survey we assess your property, insulation levels and heat demand to ensure the system is designed to meet your full requirements.
Are they low maintenance and do they require servicing?
Ground source heat pumps are very low maintenance. The underground loop has no moving parts and can last for decades. The heat pump unit itself should be serviced annually to keep it running efficiently and to maintain warranties. We complete a full heat loss calculation. Your heat pump, cylinder size and radiator sizes are based on this. So your heat pump will take care of 100% of your heating and hot water demand.
How much are ground source heat pumps?
Costs vary depending on the property, the amount of heat you need, and whether you require horizontal trenches or vertical boreholes. To give you an accurate quote, we carry out a free survey to assess your land, energy usage and installation options. Once we understand your home’s requirements, we provide a clear, personalised price with no obligation.
What is the difference between a ground source heat pump and an air source heat pump?
Both systems heat your home efficiently, but they collect energy differently.
A ground source heat pump draws stable heat from the ground where temperatures stay consistent year round, giving it higher efficiency and lower running costs. An air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air and is easier and cheaper to install. The best choice depends on your property, land availability and budget. We can advise on the ideal option during a survey.
Do your ground source heat pumps come with a warranty?
Every installation we complete is backed by a two-year workmanship guarantee, giving you reassurance that the job has been carried out properly and will be supported if anything needs attention.
We also take care of registering your equipment with the manufacturer, so your product warranty is fully activated without you having to deal with the paperwork.
Our engineers are manufacturer-trained and fully qualified, which means many of the systems we install are eligible for extended warranty options from leading heat pump brands. That gives you added long-term protection and confidence in your investment.
What is the difference between a ground source heat pump and an air source heat pump?
A ground source heat pump uses underground pipework to capture consistent year round heat from below the surface, while an air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air. Ground source systems typically deliver higher efficiency and lower running costs because they rely on steady ground temperatures. Air source heat pumps are more straightforward to install and are ideal for properties without available land for trenches or boreholes. We assess both options during a survey to find the best fit for your home.
Do I qualify for any government grants?
If you are considering replacing your existing heating system with a Ground Source Heat Pump, or you are building your own home, you may be eligible for the £7,500 grant available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
This government incentive is designed to support homeowners and self-builders in switching to low carbon heating systems.
The grant is paid directly to the installer and deducted from your installation cost, meaning you benefit immediately without needing to claim the money yourself.
